Step into the shoes of Shakespeare's characters as the Lifelong Learning room transforms into the Globe Theatre with a cold reading of Much Ado About Nothing. Each week, participants will draw a role to read aloud while our facilitator, Meb Reisner, guides the group through the play's themes and shenanigans over 4 sessions.
Much Ado About Nothing, one of Shakespeare's most celebrated and witty comedies, explores the hilarious battle of the sexes, the sting of deception, and the power of love, offering some of the sharpest wordplay and most memorable banter in English literature.

Our October Early Learning Café topic will be 'Media Literacy: Screen Time discussion'. Coffee, tea, and light refreshments will be available.
Children aged 0-5 are welcome and can discover our educational toys through unstructured playtime, enjoy story time, and every new family will receive a set of Bob Books which are simple, phonics-based stories designed to help absolute beginners learn to read. Registration is free, but essential.

Seasoned traveler, Jan Anderson will share her experiences with organized tours in Asia, Ireland, the Middle East and South America. We will discuss what to know before you book a trip with a tour operator and how to get the most out of this type of travel experience. Come and find out if this type of travel experience is for you and share your travel tales as well!

Join us for a special presentation celebrating the joy of travel, cultural discovery, and meaningful conversation.
Travel is more than a luxury—it is a meaningful way to relax, recharge, and better cope with the pressures of everyday life.
Barry will draw on 40 years as a tour operator and world traveler to share practical tips, personal insights, and a favourite travel anecdote. The session will conclude with an open discussion where participants can share their own memorable travel moments or useful tips.

Brighten up a grey November afternoon with mocktails and a relaxing paint-by-numbers activity. All supplies will be provided—just bring your imagination, creativity, and sense of fun. Together, we’ll enjoy a light-hearted artistic experience, made even more exciting by the new possibilities today’s paint-by-numbers technology has to offer. No artistic experience required!

This Lifelong Learning event is open to all aged 50+People of Ukraine: Odesa’s Fight to Adapt and Endure.
Russia’s attack on Ukraine and the Ukrainians’ remarkable resistance are among the defining events of our time, with consequences that will be felt for decades. This presentation looks beyond the headlines to explore how the war is affecting the people of Odesa, including the city’s cultural identity and daily life.
Barry Lane travelled to Odesa from April to May 2026 to support the Ukrainian people and visit friends there. Drawing on firsthand experience, he will share how residents are adapting to wartime conditions and discuss his volunteer work with the Veterans Hub, which supports Ukrainian veterans returning to civilian life.
Barry will also welcome questions about the current military and geopolitical situation, offering participants a chance to better understand this complex conflict. Join us for a human-centred look at Odesa, its people, and a war that may be nearing a significant turning point.
