Family Programs
QCRC’s family programs are designed to equip parents with the foundation blocks they need to support preschool learning at home. We use early learning pedagogical tools and resources, to create a stimulating and playful learning environment where families can connect and learn.



Toddler Time
WHAT
Our pre-school literacy program Toddler Time (TT) is a community based activity for children aged 2 ½ to 4 with their parents/caregivers. Participants sing songs, enjoy stories, make crafts and socialize with other children. Children participate in activities that promote fine and gross motor skills development and creativity. Families also have the opportunity to connect with other parents and caregivers in a fun and welcoming environment. Each month has a different theme.
WHEN
Monthly on Fridays, 10:00AM -11:30AM in September, November, March, and May. No activities are held in December or January. This program is FREE, but registration is essential.
WHERE
Each monthly activity is hosted by QCRC and its community partners at select locations.

Kinder Ready Kids
WHAT
Kinder Ready Kids (KRK) is a school based early literacy program designed to meet the needs of children in the Preschool-Kindergarten 4 year old program (K4) classes in English elementary schools. Designed to support school readiness through fun and engaging experiences, children will build foundational skills that support future learning centered around a selected theme.
WHEN
Activities are held in October, February, and April.

Participating Central Quebec School Board (CQSB) Elementary Schools.

Early Learning Café
WHAT
Early Learning Café (ELC) is a welcoming learning space for pre-school aged children 0-4 years old and their families. Alongside a healthy snack and story time, this activity offers unstructured play for little ones, literacy resources for parents and access to our library. We welcome book donations in good condition.
WHEN
Drop in from 10:00 to 11:30 the last Thursday of each month between September and May. No activities are held in December or January. This program is FREE, but registration is essential.

Snail Mail Club
WHAT
Snail Mail Club (SMC) is a pen pal program for English-speaking children aged 7 to 10 supported by their parents/caregivers. Each participant receives a pen pal kit as well as supporting information to get them started. The program is a great way for kids to:
- Connect with other kids in their community.
- Practice reading and writing in a fun way.
- Build friendships and discover what makes each person unique.
- Experience the joy of receiving mail!
WHEN
Snail Mail Club runs from June 1st to September 30th. Over the summer, pen pals exchange at least 4 letters, sharing stories, drawings, and discoveries through the joy of handwritten mail. At the end of the program, families share their feedback to help us continue building a meaningful and engaging pen pal club experience.
REGISTRATION
Snail Mail Club welcomes a limited number of participants each summer. Families wishing to join the program must submit an application by April 30th. Information about how to apply is shared each March through our newsletter, website, and Facebook page.
Baby Book Bag
WHAT
The Baby Book Bag is a community partnership initiative. Each gift bag for new parents is designed to support literacy and early learning at home. It includes:
- QCRC’s Early Learning at Home booklet with tips and resources for promoting early learning.
- A free one-year membership to the Morrin Centre library.
- A baby book donated by La Maison Anglaise et Internationale.
- A tip sheet on signing with baby.
- An informative list of various pedagogical tools and community resources.
WHEN
Bags are distributed by the JH Partners nursing team during the perinatal home visits.

Community Library
WHAT
QCRC’s Community Library was created to make books accessible and easy to share. The collection includes children’s books for those aged 0-7, novels, self-help, pregnancy and parenting books. Register for a free QCRC library account to view available titles and borrow books from our growing collection. The library is open before and after scheduled activities.

Our adult programs are designed to empower, connect, and support individuals through engaging workshops, skill-building opportunities, and community-based learning experiences.

Lifelong Learning (LLL) offers adults aged 50+ activities to stay engaged, connected and learn.
